Cat painting with stuffed animal collection.
Here's a little painting I made of one of my cats surrounded by my sock-monkeys, Charlie Chaplin and the other critters. One of the sock monkeys on the left is blind. Phil and I found him at a flea market with no eyes. We also found the rabbit at a flea market. We bought it from this very nice Japanese lady who was selling her stuff because she was losing her house and needed to narrow down her collection. She was such a nice lady and started talking to us about Japan. We told her how we've always wanted to visit Japan and she got excited and told us, "You should go!" She started reminiscing about her younger days when she first rode in an American car and how excited she was. She went off to tell us a lot about her life. It's was pretty interesting to hear what she had to say. We ended up buying the rabbit from her and she even let us keep the brooch she had put on the rabbits ear. As for the others in the picture, I wonder what their stories are. You know they must have some interesting stories behind them. If I only knew...

Butters & Beans
Butters & Beans
Originally uploaded by paperscrap
I woke up yesterday morning and found this next to me in bed. So of course, I had to grab my camera. I quietly snuck out of bed so that I wouldn't wake them up. I captured a good amount of pictures before they did. What a bunch of lazy bums!
"Three drunk mice"
Three drunk mice, Three drunk mice.
See how they stumble. See how they stumble.
They all ran on top of the drunken cat,
Who spilled his drink all over his lap,
Did you ever stumble on such a mess in your life, as three drunken mice?

A Velvet painting of a girl
My first post:
I know some people may think of velvet paintings as tacky artwork. Like the typical velvet painting of Elvis or matadors…which Phil and I do actually have hanging in our living room. Yes, we have a velvet Elvis painting and three matador velvet paintings hanging on our wall. I found this velvet canvas at an antique tent sale a few months ago. Well….after months of having it hanging around collecting dust I finally decided to give it a shot and paint on it. I tend to mainly stick to animals so I wanted to paint an actual human being this time. Of course this turned out to be a cartoon-esque human being. I was nervous about painting something and ruining the velvet because I really like the frame on it. I also don’t know where I could find blank velvet frames like this. Mexico? I’m not sure where to look around these parts. They’re probably easier to find than I think. I could always try making them myself but I’m not sure how to go about doing that either. It was strange painting on velvet. The velvet soaked the paint up quickly. Overall, I like the way this one came out. The velvet and the frame are a little beaten up, but I’m happy with it. I’d like to do some more paintings like this.
